Allergan have developed a wide range of silicone-filled and saline-filled implant selections so women considering breast augmentation can find the right fit of breast implant to suit their body shape and characteristics.
The surface of Allergan’s breast implants can be either smooth or textured. Textured breast implants provide a surface that encourages the breast tissue to integrate with the breast implant instead of growing in a linear pattern around the breast implant. This helps to prevent slipping and keeps the breast implant in place. Textured breast implants also help reduce the risk of capsular contracture, which can occur if the scar or capsule around the breast implant tightens, squeezing the breast implant and causing the breast to harden.
There are different considerations with smooth and textured surfaces, so it’s best to speak with your surgeon.
If your surgeon recommends you to have silicone-filled implants, Allergan have a selection of different silicone gel fill types, providing you with more choices to get the look and feel you desire. Talk to your surgeon about what fill type may be best for your wants and desires.
Allergan’s Implants are available in either a round shape or an anatomical ‘teardrop’ shape called BioDIMENSIONAL™.
Round Implant
Round implants fill out the existing breast tissue by adding volume. Round implants will make the upper part of your breast appear round at first and this may be the look you want. Over the course of time and as a result of gravity and ageing of the skin, the upper part of the breast may become “emptier”. Round implants come in three profiles: moderate, full and extra-full.
Anatomical Implant
Anatomical implants are shaped more naturally, like a teardrop, following the body’s natural lines with the result that the upper part of the breast still remains “filled” over time. Anatomical implants are often used when there is little breast tissue present so the implant assists in shaping the breast. They are also used when the breast needs a subtle lift. Anatomical implants are available in a wide variety of individual shapes to ensure a customised fit to all breast contours and chest shapes.
Selecting the proper implant width is critical to helping ensure your long-term satisfaction with your breast augmentation surgery. Allergan’s implants are available in different diameters, so your surgeon will be able to find the right match to fit the width of your breast, creating a more natural look.
Breast implants are measured by volume, not cup size. Selecting the right volume for your body is key for achieving your desired look. The Allergan Collection offers a wide range of volumes, from 80cc to 850cc, so you and your surgeon can find the size that you are looking for. The final volume is determined by combining the base width that fits your chest with the projection you desire.
It is important to be aware that a larger volume implant may not necessarily mean the outcome will look bigger in your body – it depends on your body type and shape.
Allergan’s breast implants are also available in several different projections (or profiles). Projection means the distance your implants will extend from your chest wall. A higher projection can be another way to give the impression of larger breast size without actually increasing volume and diameter. Talk to your surgeon about which profile is right for you.
Your surgeon will be able to advise you on the different features of Allergan’s Implants. He or she will determine which breast implant is best for you by assessing your unique characteristics to create the right fitting breast enlargement.
